monday motivation – delegate

Meet Isabel.  How lucky am I to have such a wonderful intern but I really prefer to call her a delegate.

She worked over 120 plus hours for me and this summer she will continue to provide help as needed while she juggles her other job which is life-guarding.  She is a graduate of our local High School and will be attending Columbia University this Fall.

Our high school has an amazing program for all seniors which is now mandatory for seniors to secure an internship.

I learned a lot about delegating which in turn helped me to take some of the daily tasks away from my desk to free up time for the artwork.  After all that is why I do what I do, but sending invoices, orders and following up on things do take an inordinate amount of time away from the actual drawing time.

If you are an entrepreneur and you feel that you are in need of some assistance, you can contact your local high school or even University.  Students want to learn actual hands on training and many are required.

Thank-you Isabel for;

Creating a master client list
Organizing monthly revenue and expenses for taxes
Crafting and sending e-mails
Filling the etsy shop and packaging orders to mail
Attending Sur-tex with me
Sending and tracking invoices
Lending your critical eye
Being a good sport
