open gate

On my walk, I happened to have my camera at the ready and snapped this enchanting gate. Look at the fantastic stone sculpture on top of the brick column. I have admired this open gate and the symmetry of this home.
What you do not see are the two tiny ferocious beasts barking as I walked by. What would your welcome gate look like? Would your gate be open or closed? Would there be children playing, dogs barking?
